Opening ceremony of the "53rd World Shooting Championship"
On August 15, 2023, the opening ceremony of the "53rd World Shooting Championship" was held at the Baku Crystal Hall. The World Championship, which will last until September 1, will be attended by 1239 athletes from 101 countries. Azerbaijan will be represented by 31 sportsmen at the competitions.
First, the flags of the participating countries were shown, then a video about Azerbaijani culture was shown. After that, the State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan was brought to the stage and the State Anthem was performed.
Later, the flag of the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) was brought to the stage and the anthem of the Federation was played.
Speaking at the ceremony, ISSF President Luciano Rossi stressed that Baku hosts a number of international competitions. He expressed gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva. After that, the swearing-in ceremony for athletes, coaches and judges took place.
The official part of the opening ceremony has ended and there was a transition to the artistic part.
